宣传 is an important tool at our disposal to use in saving rare 和 endangered plants. That is when we need to sharpen this tool 和 focus our efforts to urge lawmakers to rule in favor of these imperiled plants.

自1984年以来, the mission of the 网上信誉赌博下注 (CPC) has been to save the threatened 和 endangered native plants of North America by supporting evidence-based measures to prevent extinction. 具有里程碑意义的1973年《网上信誉赌博下注》(ESA)旨在保护濒危物种, 和, 倡导本土植物和生物多样性, 我们支持ESA(1)并支持联邦的执行, 状态 和 local environmental laws to protect native species 和 the ecosystems that provide the essential context for their survival. 而无需人工干预, an estimated one million of Earth’s plant 和 animal species may face extinction in the next decades. 拯救珍稀濒危植物, CPC与植物园保护伙伴网络合作, arboreta, 种子银行, herbaria 和 研究 organizations–和 is a member of the Endangered Species Coalition. S.A., the CPC endorses international efforts aimed at securing the fate of Earth’s imperiled species.

Each plant species represents a unique genetic 和 phenotypic solution to the problem of how to live on planet Earth. The CPC believes that human beings have the urgent responsibility to prevent this loss by taking action accordingly.

• Preserving existing critical habitat of imperiled species 和 unoccupied “refuge” areas where species can recover 和 persist.
• Safeguarding native species 和 ecosystems as a 基金amental responsibility of humanity, 也因为生物多样性的重要性, 野生种群作为药物来源, 食物和其他人类需求, importantly including their ethnobotanical uses 和 significance to Native American 和 indigenous communities.
• Advancing the conservation of imperiled flora through science-based st和ards 和 protocols, 研究, 前沿技术, 信息综合, 数据共享与协作.
• Providing strict legal safeguards 和 consistent st和ards for threatened species awaiting listing, 与濒临灭绝的植物相似.
•增加训练有素的植物学家的数量, 保护生物学家和生态学家进行严格的科学研究, monitoring 和 interventions necessary for native plant conservation 和 to provide science-based information to inform decision-making, 各级政府机构负责制定环境政策, 和保护行动.
•增加可行, genetically diverse germplasm in 种子银行 和 gene banks as a critical step in the restoration of self-sustaining wild populations 和 the survival 和 recovery of plants at risk.
• Supporting herbaria 和 their repositories of vouchers that provide expertly identified evidence to establish the historical ranges of species.
• Backing increased 基金ing for restoration of native ecosystems 和 rare plants on 公共土地 和 for active management 和 sound strategies to combat invasive weeds.
• Working actively to protect pollinators with which plant species have co-evolved 和 upon which they depend for their successful reproduction.
• Empowering people with science-based knowledge to become advocates 和 activists for native plants threatened with extinction.

Background: As part of the advocacy efforts aligned with the mission to protect native 和 endangered plant species of 美国nited States 和 its territories whose natural ranges extend into Canada 和 Mexico, The 网上信誉赌博下注 (CPC) is posting its Position Paper on Climate Change.

The need is urgent to ensure the survival of imperiled plants facing dire consequences of 人类活动, 包括燃烧化石燃料, 温室气体的排放, 和 the destruction of carbon sinks that absorb carbon dioxide are major culprits of 气候变化. The last seven years have been the warmest on record (1) 和 have been accompanied by rising sea levels, 极端天气事件, 以及频繁发生的大规模野火. 气候变化会改变植物开花的时间, 从而影响授粉和结实率, with consequent impact on the availability of fruits 和 seeds for birds 和 other creatures.

  • Fostering the resilience of natural systems by preserving
  • Protecting coastal systems that capture “Blue Carbon” or carbon dioxide from the coastal ecosystems,
  • Using green buffers with native flora in transportation corridors 和 in public gardens

  • Designating strong legal protection for plants in the Endangered Species Act 和 State Wildlife Action Plans.
  • Encouraging science -based 研究 和 conservation tools to map shifting ranges of imperiled species, 监测气候变化的影响, 并制定防止植物灭绝的策略
  • Promoting the importance of protecting rare plants 和 their pollinators by conveying the interrelationships of species 和 the realities of extinction
  • Endorsing legislation that provides protections for native, endangered, 和 threatened plants

Background

鱼类及野生动物服务(USFWS), 国家公园管理局, 和 other appropriate entities to support a program of intramural 和 extramural botanical science 研究 to support the l和 management responsibilities of the Department of the Interior.”

  • 它将增加训练有素的植物学家的数量, 科学家们, conservation biologists 和 ecologists to conduct the science-based 研究 necessary for the conservation of vulnerable plants 和 their ecosystems.
  • It advocates for science-based 研究 that provides data to alert relevant agencies 和 the public with vital information to inform decision-making, 负责任的政府环保政策及环保行动.
  • It supports engagement between the Department of the Interior with other agencies

一项法案, 于3月9日提交参议院, 2020年建立, 基金, 和 provide for the use of amounts in a National Parks 和 Public L和 Legacy Restoration Fund to address the maintenance backlog of

Background

S. 500, aimed at reducing the nearly $20 billion deferred maintenance backlog on 公共土地, 和 S. 1081, which would make 基金ing permanent for the L和 和 Water Conservation Fund at its $900 million annual authorized level.

根据这项法案, 国家公园管理局 would receive the bulk of the aid — 70% of the 基金s — or roughly $1.

Bureau of Indian Education would each collect 5%,

S.500 和 S.1081 were important for plant conservation because they contained language that required native plants 和 natural infrastructure to be used in the projects 基金ed by the bills. The new Great American Outdoors Act combines those two bills to further the protection of our natural l和s 和 water.

The L和 和 Water Conservation Fund was established by Congress in 1964 to fulfill a bipartisan commitment to safeguard our natural areas, 不用纳税人的钱, the 基金 invests earnings from offshore oil 和 gas leasing to help strengthen communities, 保护我们的历史,保护我们的土地和水. The LWCF Act authorizes the L和 和 Water Conservation Fund at an annual level of $900 million, While $900 million in revenue is deposited into a designated account in the Treasury each year, Congress has appropriated full 基金ing to support conservation 和 recreation projects only once in the Fund’s 50-year history – diverting the remainder for other purposes.

(2) requires 50% of all energy development revenues for FY2019-FY2023 to be deposited into such 基金.

On Tuesday, August 4, 2020 the President signed into law the Great American Outdoors Act.

It sets up a five-year pilot program in select National Parks to combat invasive species 和 test the success 和 the use of native plant material.

Matt Cartwright (D-PA-8) introduced a companion bill in the House on February 28, 2020, H.R. 6024.

一项要求运输部长 establish a program to provide grants to carry out activities to benefit pollinators on roadsides 和 highway rights-of-way, 包括原生植物的种植和播种, 适合当地的草和野花, 包括乳草属植物, 以及其他用途.

This act facilitates a grant program including planting of native species along highways,
